To the ordinary people of Victorian society, there are no such things as monsters. It is a dawning age of science and enlightenment. Such old-world superstitions are to be laughed at as the humbug they truly are. - Others know better.        

The monsters of legend and the tales told in cheap penny dreadfuls sold on street corners are real. They have seen horrors fearsome enough to stop a brave man's heart, and lived to tell the tale. A rare number of these people find and join the Gryphon Society. A secret lodge of monster hunters that is dedicated to saving humanity from the horrors that stalk the night.

On this coming Yuletide 1892, there is a cold and bitter bite to the weather. The River Thames has frozen solid and the city holds its first Frost Fair in 75 years. But amid the frivolity something sinister and new prowls the gaslamp lit London streets...
