I can just hear folks wondering “who the heck is Deathwish DuPree?” and the answer is…

For the last twenty years or so, we’ve been performing “Girl Genius Radio Theater” plays at conventions, and aside from Revenge of the Weasel Queen, Deathwish DuPree is one of the most popular. Because we’ve been running ourselves ragged trying to get our latest Kickstarter campaign launched (it’s already funded, by the way!) we don’t actually have the next page finished, so we though you might like to know a little bit about ol’ Deathwish here instead, because we think he‘s fun, and because this volume deals with Londinium, and they have pirates and stuff, and...well, yeah. We don’t have the page ready and we had this art. So here goes!

Deathwish is Bang’s incredibly embarrassing brother. He’s your basic swashbuckling hero-type pirate who has lost his memory. But that’s ok, because he’s found a book that tells him all he needs to know! It’s a book about him! He calls it “The Book o’ Me Life!” and refers to it whenever something slips his mind. What he‘s actually found: one of those saucy romance novels that sell so well in Paris–and it features Agatha as his wild pirate queen, as so many of such books do. Our radio play deals with the time Deathwish whisked Agatha away for exciting pirate adventures, and she was so annoyed with her friends talking about what a good, upstanding young lady she is that she went with him.

It is a very silly play.

Anyway, here he is in all his shirtless glory. (That part is Very Important to the Plot.)

Join us next week for the continuation of the actual Girl Genius story! Thanks everyone!

And don't forget to visit our Kickstarter campaign!

Our next Kickstarter campaign is live and has already funded! As you may have noticed from today's page and from the ads that I'm about to go create once I'm done making sure the page updates on time. I hope you have a chance to visit the campaign and maybe even back it!

For information about our previous Kickstarter, please visit the Exorcism Engines updates page.

Join our mailing list! I might even get that newsletter done soon! I'm excited to try it out anyway. I'm collecting addresses over on girlgeniusart.com, my new SquareSpace site that I'm using as a place to list our original art.

I've started streaming regularly and it's a lot of fun! I'm ProfessoressaFoglio on Twitch. My schedule is officially on Wednesdays and unofficially whenever I feel like it. This Wednesday I'm switching over to Breath of the Wild, a lovely relaxing game from the Legend of Zelda series, another huge part of my life these last couple decades.

I've added original pages from volumes 1-10 to girlgeniusart.com! Of course, our main store is still the one at TopatoCo, but this little side one is for original art and extra stuff like the last of the OffWorld Designs Tshirts. I'll be posting things as I can, I have so much stuff I've let build up over the years. I've also now added a page featuring our current licensees and vendors!
