Welcome to the Girl Genius Online Sketchbook!

This is a collection of sketches that Phil has done over the years that we've been working on Girl Genius. (There are a few sketches that I drew in the mix, but not a lot, so I'll talk about Phil.) We started working on the story in 1993, so some of these are very old indeed. The "finish" level on the sketches varies wildly, some of these are actual finished drawings that Phil did for one reason or another, others are little more than a few pen lines laid down to remind us of a joke or plot point for later use.

Many, many of these are personal jokes that were never intended to be shown to the general public, and a fair number of them exist solely to make me shriek with horror. (Phil likes nothing better.) So...don't be looking for hints about the plot here. I'll try to put in notes where something needs extra explanation, but a lot of it you'll just have to take as it comes. Remember that most of these were drawn at conventions, or just before bed when we're tired, silly and making our own fun. I hope you enjoy them.
