This is my take on an old folk tale that I love. I added the fierce little girl who catches bears for fun. In the original, it was just some random guy. That needed fixing. Scandinavian trolls are dear to my heart, plus, I've always been drawn to this illustration from East o' the Sun, West o' the Moon and stories like Snow White and Rose Red. I guess I just like bears. And trolls. And girl heroes. So here it is, drawn back in '96, finished in a hotel room in Amsterdam, inked by Quinton Hoover, lettered by Willie Schubert, and originally published in '97 in the anthology: Last Dangerous Christmas from AEON.
