Edit to the post below: It's past midnight now, and I just realized that it's Canada Day! Happy Canada, everyone! I hope I get to visit again someday. I spent most of today waiting for my Mom to get cataract surgery. In her one remaining eye. So that was a bit worrying. Fortunately, all went well and I got a lot of reading done. Now we're back home, her sight is returning, and she's resting. Hooray! Other than that, I'm trying to sort out the avalanche of papers and books in my office, and I caught up on the Magnus Archives podcast. It continues to delight me, it's spooky in all the ways I like, and I love that the story keeps surprising me. About political ads showing on our site: we've heard that our ads are occasionally displaying political ads of a type that we do NOT support. We asked Hiveworks about it, and they say they're already screening for political ads, but that some of the people posting such ads are using disingenuous methods to get their material through filters. Things like mis-labeling the ad type as "home goods" or other innocuous things that don't trigger alarms. So. If you see "re-election" ads or any of that sort of nonsense here on our site, please know that we don't want them here and are trying to figure out how to put a stop to it. --Kaja |
